Whether you/your child is interested in improving their skills towards furthering their dance future or wish to attend dance classes for fun, fitness and to make new friends, Carey School of Dance has a class for you.

All our classes are taught by experienced teachers who have a passion for dance and quality dance education. Classes are tailored to the ability and needs of the students in the class so you can be rest assured they always have the best interest of your child in mind.

Below you will find a description of each of the styles of dance offered by Carey School of Dance

Ballet

balletCarey School of Dance offers exceptional classical ballet tuition for students of all ages and abilities. These classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus for technique training and free extension work promoting strength and creativity.

Students may choose to participate in RAD examinations*, which can help students to further develop their dance technique and performance skills as well as promote discipline and confidence, but it is not compulsory.

These classes are great for students wanting to further themselves in the technical arena, whilst also considering pursuing a career in the arts.

Carey School of Dance also offers ballet training for those students who would like to participate in classes just for fun and fitness!

*Exam students must attend two ballet classes per week

Jazz

jazzSet to the latest pop, rock, dance and r’n’b music, Carey School of Dance offers high energy and fun jazz classes for students of all ages and abilities. These classes are based on a combination of the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing (FATD) syllabus for technique training and free extension work promoting strength and creativity.

Students may choose to participate in FATD exams or in-studio Medal Tests, which can help students to further develop their dance technique and performance skills as well as promote discipline and confidence, but it is not compulsory.

These classes are great for any student wanting to learn something new but also for any ballet or tap student wanting to enhance their versatility as a dancer.

Tap

tapCarey School of Dance offers tap classes for students of all ages and abilities. These classes are based on a combination of the Glen Wood tap syllabus for technique training and free extension work promoting strength and creativity.

Students may choose to participate in  in-studio Medal Tests, which can help students to further develop their dance technique and performance skills as well as promote discipline and confidence, but it is not compulsory.

These classes are great for any student wanting to learn something new but also for any ballet or jazz student wanting to enhance their versatility as a dancer.

Contemporary

contempCarey School of Dance’s contemporary dance classes are a fusion of ballet and lyrical modern dance as seen in productions by contemporary dance companies such Sydney Dance Company. These classes are designed to develop strength and flexibility through an exploration of fluid natural movement, free expression and interpretation through dance.

These classes are great for students wanting to enhance their strength and versatility as a dancer and/or for students undertaking dance at high school.

Hip Hop

hip hopCarey School of Dance offers hip hop classes to students aged 7 and up. These are freestyle classes (not syllabus based) based on a street style of dance commonly used on music video clips and by choreographers such as Shane Sparks (SYTYCD) and Hi-Hat (Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D).

These classes are freestyle, funky and full of fun and energy and are great for students of all abilities.

Preschool

preschoolCarey School of Dance’s preschool classes are specifically designed as an introduction to dance for young children aged 3-5. These classes introduce young dancers to dance, music, co-ordination, flexibility and imagery.

There is no set syllabus work in our preschool classes, however the work covered provides a foundation for any further study of dance in later years.

Adult classes

adultThis is a beginner ballet class for adults designed to enhance strength, suppleness, flexibility and relaxation. Set in a relaxed and non-threatening atmosphere, these classes may be undertaken on a casual basis to assist with clashes with work and family commitments.
